
National Hard Crab Derby & Fair Official Contest Rules
ANNUAL LABOR DAY WEEKEND - FRIDAY AUGUST 29TH, 2008
- Recipes must be the entrant's original invention and have never been published.
- MARYLAND BLUE CRAB MEAT must be the predominate ingredient in the recipe. Any other meat or cheese should not obscure the flavor and texture of the crab.
- Contestants may submit one recipe in each of the four divisions- appetizer/soup, main dish, salad, and/or crab cakes.
- Send recipes- ingredients and full instructions. Type or print on 8 1/2 x 11 paper. Print name, address, and phone number at bottom of recipe. Indicate division entered- appetizer/soup, main dish, salad and/or crab cakes. Mail to: National hard Crab Derby & Fair, P.O. Box 215, Crisfield, MD 21817
- Entries must be submitted no later than August 8, 2008. If there are more entries in each category than can be properly accommodated, finalists will be chosen through recipe judging. Participants will be sent a confirmation letter/reply sheet no later than August 15, 2008. Each participant must then return the reply sheet prior to the contest. An entry fee of $18.00 will be assessed and is due before cooking begins the day of the contest.
- Finalist will provide all recipe ingredients, mixing and cooking utensils. The National Hard Crab Derby will provide fresh Maryland crab meat.
- All recipes become property of the National Hard Crab Derby. Entry constitutes permission to edit, modify, adapt, and publish or otherwise use recipe without further compensation.
- Recipe entries will not be acknowledged nor entries returned.
- Professional home economists, those employed in food service, professional cooks, restaurant operators, and members of the National Hard Crab Derby & Fair Association are not eligible to participate.
